Taking a bath for all the right reasons: A Body Blitz Experience

I have been experiencing a lot of firsts recently. This is a good thing as it I am broadening my horizons and learning so much about things to do in this great city.

When I was a kid, I remember my mother taking off to Europe with a bunch of her friends. My aunt was living in Germany at the time hence it was very opportune for her to visit and experience the european way of life. I talk like she went for a month or two but in reality it was probably only a week. I was left with my father – a man who I love so much now that I am older. We did not have so much in common when I was 7 and school lunches that week consisted of a package of Hot Rods and a can of Pepsi….Luv yah Dad.

When she returned from her trip, she talked about these baths that her and her friends experienced in which they would dip in different pools containing different ingredients to help with their health, beauty and the promotion of relaxation. I don’t know why as a child I remember this but I did. This leads me to my post on Body Blitz!

A great friend from back home came to visit recently. We were somewhat hungover on the Tuesday she was here… rough Monday night I guess. Her sister- who lives here, suggested we all go to the spa to lift us out of our funk. We agreed this would be a good idea. This spa however wasn’t your typical spa in which you receive the same ole same ole. There were baths! Would this be like the experience my mom had in Europe so many years ago?

We travelled to Body Blitz on the East side of the city and we were in for a real treat. The staff were amazing, very informative and helpful. What shocked me was that Body Blitz also carries their own products such as shampoo, cremes, and even salts that you can use in your own bath at home.

The way the baths work is through completing a cycle. There are 5 stations consisting of a large Dead Sea Salt Bath, Aromatherapy Steam Bath, Ice Pool, Infrared Sauna, and Epson Salt Bath. Each station you were to spend 5-10 minutes with the exception of the Ice Pool. This was only a 1 minute station… thank God! It was freezing and I think my nips could cut glass! The Ice Pool ended up being my favourite as the feeling of being refreshed after spending a long time in hot pools was amazing.

Words cannot explain how awesome this experience was. By the end of it, we had the cycle down pat. When we finished our time at Body Blitz, my skin literally was glowing. I couldn’t get over how radiant I looked. My skin felt smooth and the salt helped clear up imperfections.

About the Baths

These Epsom Bath is meant to relieve muscle pain, reduce inflammation as well as helping muscles and nerves to function properly. The Dead Sea Pool helps promote pain relief, helps improve joint mobility, gives relief from skin and rheumatic disorders, aids in the elimination of toxins and helps replenish the body with vital nutrients essential to the human body. The Ice Pool increases the body’s energy level and to tighten pores. The Steam Bath is perfect for relaxation, increasing circulation, cleansing and toning the skin and is beneficial for respiratory disorders and rheumatic pain. Eucalyptus oil is added to revitalize the senses. The Infrared Sauna is a new-generation sauna that provokes a sweating effect up to 3 times superior to traditional saunas, creating an in-depth detoxification of the entire body. Infrared waves have the ability to help evacuate deeply-lodged toxins that are often at the heart of many of our health and beauty problems. As sweating is one of the most effective ways of eliminating toxins and polluting agents, the infrared sauna at Body Blitz is an excellent way to help cleanse the body of impurities.

I would recommend Body Blitz to anyone. It was an amazing and fun experience that I am so thankful I got to spend with my friends. Not only that, my skin and body felt refreshed and I know it made a huge difference both inside and out.
